“Great product and company”

I’ve had the first gen EP Carry for 6 years. We have it matched to a Gig Harbor Navigator 10, and the pair are very well matched. We often use the setup with a family of 4 (our kids are under 10) and gear and the motor has no problem moving the dinghy at hull speed. What I really appreciate is the repairability of the system. Ours had a failure long out of warranty, but with a few parts I was able to get it working better than new again.

“Great package”

This is a great package for the obvious reason that it has a great range/speed choice for such a light, compact package. I also like the easy tilt up feature, the locking mechanism and the key insert.

“Just what I need”

My Gen 2 EP Carry does exactly what I hoped it would do and looks great doing it. A masterful bit of engineering in a handy, quiet, simple package. I took it to Maine for a long week and mounted it on the back of a Sea Eagle 9 inflatable to get out to my mooring, and it motored right along despite tides and winds. I managed to snag some seaweed at one point, but the instructions to pull up the shaft and clear the propeller manually worked well. I’m going to build a wooden pram soon that should give the engine a better chance at reaching warp speed. My one piece of advice for future improvement would be to stiffen up the detent that holds the drive shaft in neutral, making it harder to inadvertently switch it on when pulling on the tiller to lift the shaft. This would also make more of a tactile distinction between forward and reverse. Did I mention that I appreciate that it is a product of the USA?

“Dyer dinghy”

It would be difficult to choose between my EP Carry outboard motor (which I’ve had since 2021) and the autopilot as the single most useful or favorite gadget on my sailboat! Here we are in Quimper, Brittany, having motored 3 km up the River Odet—and returned with no qualms about battery charge. The EP Carry easily propels my 9-foot Dyer dinghy with several people on board, and it’s light enough to lift on and off my boat one-handed, even with my non-dominant hand. I am no longer young or strong! I can’t imagine sailing without it.

“Fantastic product and after-sales support”

The outboard (first generation) has performed extremely well over the last four seasons. We use it to get to our mooring and for excursions in the West River. Also, thank you for the fantastic after-sales support. We keep recommending the EP Carry to fellow boaters in our marina!

“Very lightweight and compact”

The EP Carry works as advertised. Very lightweight and easy to use. I’ve only had it for a week, so I can’t talk about durability or long-term use, but so far I am very pleased.

“Very pleased with the EP Carry”

Absolutely delighted with this little motor. Great for getting from ship to shore without rowing and without manhandling an outboard. Easily stowable and doesn’t leak gas or oil in a locker—ever.

“Very well designed and lightweight”

Very well designed and lightweight too. The outboard has plenty of power to take me from my boat to the dock and back several times.

“EP Carry!”

We bought our EP Carry at the Seattle Boat Show two years ago. We love it! Quiet and dependable. I bought an extra battery to be safe, but we have never run out of juice or had to switch batteries. The product is so light and easy to use!

“Great product and service”

I’ve owned a long-shaft model for years and recently purchased a short-shaft model. These work great on my collection of small rowing and sailboats. Efficiency exceeds anything else on the market and top speed is surprisingly fast. My fastest boat reaches 3.8 knots, which I can sustain for almost 5 hours using a 21-pound, 1,280 Wh battery. No range anxiety here.

“Meets all of my motor needs—plus some”

Exactly what I was looking for: decent thrust for my 12-foot SCAMP; the ability to use whatever battery amp-hours I want, pair it with a solar panel, or carry a backup battery; light weight; and a quiet “purr” when running.

“Outstanding experience with our EP Carry”

Easy to install, lightweight, quiet, and performs as expected. This is a thoughtfully designed electric motor, and I appreciate that it is made in the USA. Extremely easy to lift and secure out of the water when we are sailing. It does the job on everything from our 10-foot dinghy to our 20-foot daysailer. Our friends liked it so much they immediately bought one for their dinghy.

“Helps extend an old man’s boating experience”

Mine is not a Gen 2, but a long-shaft, short-tiller, 270-watt motor-only package. I added two 12V 30Ah LiFePO₄ batteries, two 55W solar panels, and a charge controller. This is for a 21-foot proa schooner camp cruiser that I can no longer muscle around when getting out of a cove or dealing with adverse conditions. Customer support is excellent, and the package has done what I ask of it. It reaches 4.1–4.2 mph at full throttle in calm conditions, can make headway into a 12–15 mph headwind while tacking, and provides an easy 12–16 miles of range depending on conditions. It is quieter than expected; I usually run at three-quarter throttle. Delivery took some time, and the system added an extra layer of complexity, but it has extended my boating experience.

“Awesome dinghy motor”

We bought this after being impressed at the Seattle Boat Show, and it is perfect. It pushes our True Kit Navigator 2.5 at 4 mph with two adults. We paired it with a LiTime 24V 50Ah lithium battery that weighs 21 pounds, and setup is a cinch. It will run for 8–12 hours on this. It replaced our Mercury 3.5, which was much harder to set up and only gave us 5–6 mph. This is so much easier to deploy from our boat. We are quite pleased so far.

“17-foot sailboat”

We use the motor on a 17-foot Core Sound Mk 1 sailboat for lake sailing, and it’s been great. It pushes us at a decent pace, and with the 24V battery and solar panel recommended on the website, it lets us get around comfortably when the wind dies. It’s also such a light motor that it’s easy to take off and put in the back of the car or on the floor of the boat when we’re trailering.

“Lightweight and surprisingly powerful”

Lightweight; outstanding customer support; great people to work with. Lightweight, surprisingly powerful for its size. This is the perfect motor for small boats when light weight is an important consideration. Easy to transport and use. Far better than lugging around the typical trolling motor and deep-cycle battery. Ideal for slowly fishing along a shoreline.

“Small size, good power, great service”

Smaller than a gas unit and therefore easier to stow horizontally in a locker. We have had a few small issues, and PropEle has surpassed expectations with attentiveness and service in correcting them. It has a small size and good power for our 8-foot Walker Bay dinghy. Due to the good performance of the outboard and customer service from the company, I would easily recommend EP Carry to anyone with a smaller dinghy or skiff.

“Lightweight, quiet, and flexible”

Lightweight. SWAP—size, weight, and power. Lightweight and quiet with a flexible design. We needed to be able to adjust depth and angle, which it does.

Alan & Linda C. · Bodkin Creek, Maryland

“Battery life is longer than stated”

Battery life and easy storage. Battery life is longer than stated. My wife and I ran it at full speed for an hour and a half, and we never saw a drop-off in power.

Bob H. · Poulsbo, Washington

“Lightweight, easy to use, and pretty”

It’s lightweight, easy to use, and has a pretty design! It is unique, and we are regularly handing out your brochures because electric motors are still very uncommon in Maine.

Alan G. · Bass Harbor, Maine

“Excellent customer service”

Excellent customer service and response to customer questions. It is so light that I can carry it down a swim ladder with one hand while holding onto the ladder with the other.

Henry L. · Seattle, Washington

“The best option for dinghy power”

Very responsive to my requests. It can be stored inside the cabin without fuel smell or concerns about leakage and stains. It is the lightest-weight option for dinghy power and the best option for dinghy power. Anchorages would be better if everyone used quiet motors.

Jim M. · Snohomish, Washington

“Quiet and reliable”

Lightweight, quiet, easy to carry and install. Great little motor—quiet and reliable. Lightweight battery, easy to charge and transport.
