The EP Carry 1 hour battery is our lightest power option for ship-to-shore service. Weighing in at just 6.4 lb ,it provides one hour of runtime at full throttle.
This battery comes with no state of charge monitor but owners report 2-3 days of ship to shore service on a charge. So recharging each night assures sufficient range without the need for monitoring the battery. We also sell a Bluetooth battery monitor for those who may require more daily range but don’t quite need to move up to our larger 3-hr battery.
- Type: LFP*
- Manufacturer: K2 Energy
- Voltage: 25.6V
- Capacity: 11.25 Ah, 17% more than models sold from 2017 through 2024
- Stored energy: 288Wh **
*An important note: Our batteries are made using LFP (LiFePO4, also called lithium Iron Phosphate) chemistry by K2 Energy, a division of Grand Teton Energy in Idaho, USA. While not quite as energy-dense as other battery types, LFP is acknowledged as the longest lasting and safest battery chemistry for marine applications. Most of our competition sells proprietary batteries made with other types of Lithium chemistries to save weight and cost. In our view, this is a false economy. If you decide on a competing motor, be sure that the particular small motor you purchase uses LFP cells, or consider getting their battery cord and a standard LFP battery instead.
**When used on a small boat, an EP Carry draws up to 270W at full throttle, which is equivalent to other electric outboards drawing ~600W So other motors require a battery with twice the capacity for the same speed and range vs when using an EP Carry motor. That’s why, for a given speed and range, EP Carry batteries are much less expensive to purchase.
This battery includes a two-pin snap-lock connector cord. Older EP Carry motors with three-pin connectors require our three-pin-to-two-pin conversion kit to be installed.
