Battery Options
Compare electric outboard battery options for EP Carry, from ultralight one-hour packs to longer-range and compatible third-party batteries.
Pick the right size and type battery for your needs
1-Hr option: Our ultra-portable 6.4 lb sealed LFP battery, made by K2 Energy in Idaho, comes in a buoyant soft case and a 2-ft waterproof snap lock cord. This battery provides 1 hour of full throttle run time, 2 hours at half throttle and so on. Our experience with gunkholing is similar our owner’s: this battery provides enough range for a long weekend of ship to shore with the pup. That said, we feel that it’s good practice to charge from your larger boat’s house bank each night anyway.
3-hr option: Our 14.5 lb sealed LFP battery, also made by K2, comes in a larger buoyant soft case with an integral 3-ft waterproof snap lock cord. This larger battery provides 3x the range of the smaller battery, or 3 hours of full throttle run time. Note that this larger battery has a Bluetooth battery monitor built in.
5-hr to 20-hr options: If you purchase a motor without one of our batteries, it will come with a 3-ft cord with 5/16″ lugs for connecting to your own battery. There are many new high quality, low cost 24V LFP batteries on the market now, and most also have a Bluetooth battery monitor built in! Most EP Carry owners who go this route use 24V 50 Ah batteries from Li Time and Redodo but you can also purchase similar batteries with 100 or even 200 Ah of Ampacity. The 24V, 50 Ah option is the best value for its weight (24lb), range (~20 nm) and cost (~$300). We also sell a 5-amp Victron charger with our snap lock connector interface for use with these 24V batteries as well as our own K2 batteries.
